Sometimes when the reason for keeping a couple apart comes to light it’s so disappointing or doesn’t make sense but I think Henry does a fantastic job of really exploring a relationship that lasted eight years until it didn’t. It was this same feeling that had me hooked while reading People We Meet on Vacation but the resolution wasn’t as fulfilling in this one. It definitely had me hooked and begging to know what could have possibly torn Wyn and Harry apart since it was so obvious how much they still loved one another. To get straight to the point, I really enjoyed reading it though it didn’t knock off People We Meet on Vacation as my favorite Emily Henry book. I’m all about second chance romance books and a great cast of characters so I was excited to dive right into Happy Place, her newest release for 2023. Harriet will be the driven surgical resident who never starts a fight, and Wyn will be the laid-back charmer who never lets the cracks show.Īfter years of being in love, how hard can it be to fake it for one week…in front of those who know you best? Happy Place Review:Įmily Henry has become one of those one-click authors for me because I love her writing and storytelling. They can’t stand to break their friends’ hearts, and so they’ll play their parts. Only this year, Harriet and Wyn are lying through their teeth while trying not to notice how desperately they still want each other.īecause the cottage is for sale and this is the last week they’ll all have together in this place. Which is how they find themselves sharing a bedroom at the Maine cottage that has been their friend group’s yearly getaway for the last decade. And still haven’t told their best friends. Harriet and Wyn have been the perfect couple since they met in college-except, now-for reasons they’re still not discussing-they aren’t.
